Robo Taxi proved its strength by running 16,000 km

Autonomous minibuses will be introduced in Abu Dhabi next month in conjunction with the Formula One Grand Prix, the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) has announced. Jitex Global has showcased a prototype minibus operated by Tixai. It is the main attraction of the Abu Dhabi government exhibition.

In this, seven people can sit and four people can travel smoothly. Sultan Al Menhali, Traffic Systems Project Manager at ITC, said the bus will travel through nine centers at Yas World, including Yas Water World, Yas Marina Circuit and Ferrari World.

The bus was inspired by the pilot robo-taxi that has been operating around Yas Island for the past year. Driverless taxis are closely monitored and controlled by security personnel. He also clarified that autonomous buses will be seamlessly integrated into the existing transport system.

In March this year, the pilot robo taxis in Yas Island successfully completed the first phase of services. In the first phase, more than 16,000 kilometers have been traveled with more than 2700 passengers. The services can be pre-booked through the smart app. Officials also informed that ITC is responsible for providing the necessary infrastructure for autonomous vehicles within the transport network.
