Chinese Smartphones not safe

Military intelligence warns against using Chinese phones The military intelligence department has issued a warning to the soldiers amid ongoing tension between India and China along the Line of Control. Following the warning to be careful while using Chinese phones, it is advisable to switch to other brands of phones, the intelligence department said.

The intelligence department has warned the army about 11 Chinese mobile brands in the Indian market including OnePlus, Oppo and Realme. The warning is about the use of phones made in countries that work against India’s interests. The intelligence department has informed that the family members should also be discouraged from using such phones.

This is not the first time that the intelligence agency has issued such a directive. But it has not been given enough publicity. A senior official in the intelligence department responded that everyone is aware of China’s intentions and the risk of using mobile phones coming from the region.

It was in 2020 that the central government first raised the issue of data leakage and risks associated with the use of Chinese mobile apps and phones.

After the Galwan Valley encounter, the central government banned several Chinese mobile applications. If you thought that only apps are at risk, then you are wrong. Vulnerabilities in phones are also being pointed out. Experts point out that Chinese phones can be used for espionage or gathering sensitive information.
