Experimental Proton has been updated a few hours ago to fix issues in various games. Overwatch 2 controls have been fixed, the issue when entering Gears 5 has been fixed again, and Doom Eternal no longer has issues with Ray Tracing. Furthermore, Valve has also implemented English speech recognition for the Phasmophobia game.
These are the most important changes (translated).
- Fixed game stuttering in Lara Croft and Temple of Osiris .
- Fixed keyboard input registering with a delay and getting stuck in Wild Hearts .
- Fixed Escape from Monkey Island minimizing on a mouse click.
- Fixed Overwatch 2 stopping to record controller inputs after an online match started.
- English speech recognition has been implemented for Phasmophobia .
- Fixed Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition not launching after a recent game update.
- Fixed Microsoft Flight Simulator crash in accessibility settings.
- Fixed some regressions from Proton 8.0 :
- Logging in online in Gears 5 works again.
- Doom Eternal no longer crashes with ray tracing enabled on AMDVLK/Nvidia

How to change the version of Proton
And remember that changing the version of Proton (to Proton Experimental, Proton GE or Proton) can make you play games that don’t seem compatible at first, or improve bugs that occur with other versions. Changing the version of Proton is very simple:

Choose a game, and access its Properties

Click on the Compatibility section

Make sure the checkbox is checked: “Force the use of a specific compatibility tool for Steam Play“

Choose the version of Proton you want to use from the available list
