Who is ahead in 5G speed

The country’s telecom giants Jio and Airtel are competing to introduce 5G services. Three telecom companies have permission for 5G service, but the third one, Vodafone Idea, has no idea about the progress of its 5G plans. So let’s leave the matter of VI. Reliance Jio has the largest number of subscribers in the telecom sector after the other two companies. Airtel has the second position.

But when it comes to 5G services, Airtel, which is not interested in being in the second position, shocked everyone by announcing that 5G services have been launched in eight cities on October 1, when 5G services were officially launched in the country. As for Jio, it was said that 5G will be launched by Diwali. That too in four cities. Airtel, which was silent when Jio made announcements about this, unexpectedly announced the launch of 5G, which shocked everyone.

That announcement was a shot in the neck for Jio. While Jio said it will launch 5G in four cities, Airtel’s 5G war was announced by announcing 5G in eight cities in addition to the cities where Jio will launch. But despite making big announcements, these two companies have not been able to launch the actual 5G services in these announced cities. Both are offering 5G on a trial basis to only a few customers.

But in the testing phase, everyone will be curious to know which of them has the fastest 5G speed. Information about it is now available. Airtel and Jio have four cities with 5G services. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi are nuclear. Varanasi was not in the list of four cities announced by Jio earlier. Instead there was Chenne.

But announcing the launch of 5G, Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s constituency, was included in the list released by Jio instead of Chennai. In any case, when it comes to competition, equal treatment should be given to both. That is why both the companies have selected these cities where 5G services have been announced for the speed test. Let’s see what are the 5G speeds offered by Jio and Airtel in these cities. This test was conducted by Ookla, which conducts and analyzes speed tests.

5G Speed Available in Delhi

Jio : 598.58 Mbps
Airtel : 197.98 Mbps

5G Speed Available in Mumbai

Jio : 515.38 Mbps
Airtel : 271.07 Mbps

5G Speed Available in Kolkata

Jio : 482.02 Mbps
Airtel : 33.83 Mbps

5G Speed in Varanasi

Jio: 485.22 Mbps
Airtel : 516.57 Mbps

This is only the result of the service running on trial basis. Neither company has announced that they have actually launched 5G. Therefore, it is reported that by the time the test is completed, more speed will be achieved. Jio has made it clear that it will provide 5G services as a standalone. It can be said that stand alone 5G is the service provided by using the actual equipment for 5G.

But Airtel provides 5G as non-standalone. That means Airtel will provide 5G service with a small update using the existing 4G devices. VI also provides 5G as a non-standalone.
Jio claims that SA5G will be faster than NSA5G and that it is their true 5G. However, Jio is leading in the three cities in the current speed test.

But Jio lags behind Airtel in Varanasi. Both companies see speeds close to 600 Mbps. Jio 5G in Delhi has the fastest speed. Since this speed is available at the beginning of the trial phase, it can be assumed that by the time the actual 5G service is launched, 1Gbps speed will be available as promised earlier.

Here it is indicated that there will be a fierce competition between Airtel and Jio in terms of speed. That competition is good for subscribers. The real picture will be clear only when the existing towers are improved and the construction is completed. In the meantime, if VI also launches 5G, the competition will become stronger. In any case, the time will come when 5G reaches its full range. Let’s wait for that.
