In the current era, robots are playing an increasingly important role in society, revolutionizing various aspects of our lives.

These ingenious mechanical and electronic devices have become companions and assistants in a wide range of industries and fields, from manufacturing to medicine, to education and entertainment.

In the world of entertainment, robots are occupying a prominent place. From thematic attractions to innovative spectacles, these fascinating automata captivate the audience with their precision, impressive abilities and ability to perform acrobatics and complex movements.

However, I had never seen anything like the one that hundreds of people attended a historic event at the National Theater of South Korea, in Seoul, and for the first time ever, that the director of the National Symphony Orchestra of an Asian country was not human, not a robot.

A robot makes history directing a Symphony Orchestra

Developed by the State Institute of Technology of South Korea (Kitech), the Android EveR 6 has left everyone stunned with its ability to direct the National Symphony Orchestra of the country.

With a height of 1.8 meters and a design that imitates human anatomy, this robot is able to follow the movements of musicians thanks to its sensors, which allows it to execute the characteristic gestures of an orchestra director in an impeccable manner.

At a special event, EveR 6 took the stage alongside the South Korean National Symphony Orchestra’s human conductor, Choi Soo-yeoul.

In this unique presentation, the musicians employed traditional Korean instruments to fuse history and modernity. While Choi Soo-yeoul and the android participate in the director’s paper, EveR 6 guides the musicians with their armonic and precise movements.

The musical piece selected for this occasion was titled “Ausencia”. Under the joint direction of Choi Soo-yeoul and EveR 6, the orchestra interpreted the piece masterfully, generating an enthusiastic ovation from the audience present at the National Theater of Korea del Sur, in Seoul.

This historical event marked a milestone in the interaction between technology and art, demonstrating how robotic advances can play a relevant role in the world of music and culture.

EveR 6 has made it clear that the border between the human and the artificial is deviating more and more, opening up new possibilities and fascinating prospects for the future.
