Apple, the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, is about to set up a new factory on 300 acres in Karnataka. This was announced by Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The announcement was made through Twitter. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced that around one lakh jobs will be created with the establishment of the new factory.

‘Apple iPhones will be manufactured in a new factory to be built on 300 acres in Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s twin engine, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s government is working to generate investment and employment in Karnataka’, Rajeev Chandrasekhar tweeted.

Meanwhile, without going into details, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also shared a little information about the project. ‘Apple iPhones will soon be manufactured in the state. Apart from creating about 100,000 jobs, it will also create a lot of opportunities for Karnataka.

We will strive to make India a five trillion dollar economy by 2025 under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji,” Bommai tweeted.

Foxconn Group visits the site: Meanwhile, a delegation of Apple Inc partner Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) led by Chairman Young Liu arrived in Bengaluru on Friday. Karnataka Information Technology Minister CN Aswat Narayan welcomed the delegation at Bengaluru International Airport.

The team then held a preliminary discussion with Minister CN Aswat Narayan regarding the setting up of the factory. The minister’s office said in a statement that the team was taken to inspect the site for setting up an Apple phone manufacturing unit in the state. Young Liu, Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group, also stated that Bengaluru is a preferred destination for global companies and is leading in attracting investors.

$700 million investment: Foxconn Technology Group is reportedly investing $700 million in India to set up an iPhone manufacturing plant. If so, it will be Foxconn’s biggest investment in India so far. It is also indicated that parts of Apple’s new electric vehicles will also be manufactured here.

Apple to leave China: At the end of 2022, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal revealed that Apple is planning to make a quarter of its total production in India. Apple already manufactures five to seven percent of its products in India.

Apple now aims to bring up to 25 percent of its production to India. There were earlier reports that Foxconn is planning to expand its operations in India as it is facing a severe crisis in manufacturing from China due to the zero-covid policy.
