Samsung reportedly sold mobile phones worth Rs 14,400 crore in India during the last Ulsava season. Samsung earned Rs 14,400 crore from phone sales between September and October. Aditya Babbar, Senior Director and Head of Product Marketing, Samsung India, said that in the first three quarters of the current financial year, the premium segment smartphone sales have recorded a growth of 99 percent.
A 178 percent increase in sales of 5G smartphones was recorded between January and September. This year was a record festive season for Samsung. In the 60 days from September 1, Babbar has recorded a record turnover of Rs 14,400 crore, he told PTI. Without disclosing the exact percentage, Babbar said the growth was better compared to last year’s festive season sales. Along with this, Samsung Finance Plus has also achieved good growth in the last season. He said that the transaction through the platform increased to over 10 lakh during the festive season.
Babbar said the response from tier 2 and 3 towns has been mostly good, while it has performed well in urban centers as well. The company recorded 99 percent growth in premium segment smartphone sales. According to the report, sales of phones priced above Rs 30,000 increased during January-September compared to the same period last year.
Samsung is the fastest growing premium segment brand in India on the back of S22 and foldable phones. Babbar also said that the company’s growth in the phone segment above Rs 30,000 this year is 99 percent compared to January-September last year. According to the latest report by Counterpoint Research, Samsung is the second largest smartphone vendor in India with 18 percent market share in the July-September quarter. The company claims overall phone business grew 20 percent and a 22 percent revenue market share in the first nine months of 2022.
We have been the number one seller of 5G phones since 2013. Babbar also said that we have been number one in the 5G brand for the last four quarters. He said the company will roll out software updates for all 5G handsets by November 15 and most phones have started getting 5G.
