Within days of Elon Musk taking over, Twitter went on strike. In the meantime, there are reports that half of the total employees of Twitter will be laid off as part of the cost reduction. Musk also instructed employees to prepare for mass layoffs.
A lot has been going on at Twitter HQ over the past few days. Twitter has gone on strike in some countries, including India, while Elon Musk is preparing to lay off 50 percent of its employees. Twitter’s mobile app is working, but the website is reported to be inaccessible to many people. Some are showing the website but not getting the tweets.
According to Downdetector data, 94 percent of users are experiencing problems on the Twitter web. 6 percent also face some issues with the mobile app. Twitter Android and iOS apps work without any major issues.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk sent an email to Twitter employees on Friday (Nov. 4) indicating mass layoffs. The memo says that both those affected by the layoff and those not affected will be notified via email. Twitter’s arduous process of downsizing its global workforce will take place on Friday. We recognize that this may affect many individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action unfortunately has to be implemented. This is necessary for the company’s future success, the email said.
By 9 a.m. (Pacific Time) on Friday, November 4, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line. The email also says to check your email, including your spam folder. Offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be temporarily revoked to help ensure the security of each employee’s Twitter systems and customer data.
