The video game industry is unpredictable. A video game can emerge overnight and become a viral phenomenon, gathering thousands of players. It already happened with Among Us and Battlebit Remastered, to mention just a couple of examples. Well, a few weeks ago Only Up! debuted, a title that gained a lot of popularity and inspired an unofficial game mode in Fortnite.
For those of you who don’t know, Only Up! is a platform game where players must scale a series of obstacles and get as high as possible. The interesting thing is that you can’t save the game and there are no checkpoints, so a mistake often means starting from 0 and losing many hours of progress.
The unique concept resonated with the community, allowing the SCKR Games title to gain popularity on Steam. Also, famous Twitch streamers started playing it in their live streams.
Only Up! Breaks it in Fortnite
The success motivated a user to recreate this independent video game in an unofficial game mode in Fortnite. That’s possible thanks to the tools offered by the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), a very robust level editor that allows fans to design their own experiences.
The interesting thing is that the version of Only Up! from Fortnite is much more popular than the original title. While the SCKR Games project has an all-time high of 11,239 concurrent players on Steam, the unofficial game mode developed by user “Army” has already surpassed 100,000 concurrent users, according to Epic Games data.
It is striking that the unofficial version of Only Up! of Fortnite is much more popular than Party Royale, Team Rumble and other additional modes made by Epic Games.
How to play Only Up! in Fortnite?
It is no surprise that the gameplay developed by “Army” is much more popular than the original version of the standalone game on Steam. While the former is free and can be accessed by any user, the latter costs around $10 USD.
With that being said, how to play Only Up! in Fortnite? It is very simple. Players need to visit the “Discover” tab and search for the map under the Deathrun and Parkour categories. Because it is very popular at the moment, it will appear on the front page.
To avoid any complications, you can also enter the code 4366-9611-6988 in the “Island Code” tab to directly enter the map and start playing.
But tell us, have you already given it a chance? What do you think about it? Do you think it’s as fun as the original game? Let us read you in the comments.
