ChatGPT has become even more powerful with the arrival of the recently introduced GPT-4. An enhanced language model gives ChatGPT the ability to accept image inputs and generate output accordingly. Compared to its predecessor, it has the ability to take on more complex tasks and is much better at handling them.
Furthermore, GPT-4 has met various expectations. Chatbot passed the LSAT with an 88 percent and 89 percent for SAT Math. 80 percent passed the GRE Quantitative test and 99 percent passed the GRE Verbal test. Despite this, many people are afraid of ChatGPT given its extraordinary capabilities. People argue that this will eliminate many human jobs in the future.
Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI, ChatGPT’s parent company, acknowledges the potential for chatbots to eliminate human jobs. However, he says that human creativity is limitless and hence new jobs and opportunities will arise.
OpenAI Founder Says ChatGPT Will Eliminate Human Jobs
In an interview with ABC News, Altman talked about the possibility of AI eliminating some human jobs. He added that he is worried about how soon this change will happen. However, the CEO says that humans have ‘limitless’ creativity and will therefore invent new things.
“Over the last couple of generations, humanity has shown that it can adapt wonderfully to huge technological changes. But if it happens in a single-digit year, some of these changes … that’s what worries me the most,” he said.
Sam Altman says people should see ChatGPT as a tool, not a replacement for people. “Human creativity is limitless and we invent new jobs. We start doing new things,” added the CEO.
When you are afraid of your own creation
In the same interview, Altman said that he was a little apprehensive about his creation and worried that it might be misused to spread misinformation. “We have to be careful here,” he added.
Altman was open about his fears that ChatGPT could be used to spread misinformation. “I’m particularly concerned that these models could be used for large-scale disinformation. Now that they’re getting better at writing computer code, [they] could be used for malicious cyber attacks,” he said.
The OpenAI CEO said that although the AI device is under human control, he is not sure about the humans controlling it. “There’s going to be other people who don’t put some of the safety limits that we put in place,” he said, “and I think society has a limited amount of time to figure out how to respond to that, how to manage it, how to deal with it,” Altman said.
Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, Sam Altman developed a keen interest in coding at a young age. In 2015, after working at various startups, Sam founded OpenAI with the intention of saving humanity from the destruction of AI. The company started as a not-for-profit research company. Elon Musk was among the founders of this company. However, he left Musk in 2018.
