15-year-old small iPhone sold for ₹ 32 lakhs, see the video Apple’s first device A YouTuber named MKBHD bought this device for about 32 lakh rupees to unbox the original iPhone launched in the year 2007. Now YouTuber has shared the video of unboxing of this device.
Apple revolutionized the smartphone market with the launch of its first iPhone, when company founder Steve Jobs introduced the original iPhone 1 in June 2007. It’s not easy to find an original iPhone after 15 years, but popular YouTuber Marcus Brownlee has bought the first iPhone for unboxing. Marcus paid around Rs 32 lakh for the original iPhone, which was launched at a price of around Rs 41,000 at that time.
Launching the first iPhone, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs called it ‘an iPod, a phone and an Internet communicator’. Tech reviewer and YouTuber MKBHD bought the original unit of this revolutionary device, which laid the foundation of modern smartphone design, by bidding for $ 40,000 (about Rs 32 lakh) in an auction. He unboxed the device for a video, which has obviously reduced its value from what it used to be.
Silver iPhone with small screen inside the box
The YouTuber begins the video by stating that the value of an iPhone in its box and unopened is much higher as it is rare to find an untouched original iPhone kept in the original box. The original iPhone box appears to be wrapped in plastic wrap, which has now been removed from packaging as Apple has phased out environmentally harmful packaging. Inside the box, the original iPhone with a silver body and a smaller screen was seen.
Apple used to provide earphones, charger and cleaning cloth
Accessories like earphones and charging adapter are no longer available in the box of Apple iPhone, but with the original iPhone, a black colored microfibre cloth was available in the package. Also, stickers, manual and wired earphones were also seen in the box. A large 30 pin charging cable was also given in the box, which was used to charge Apple devices in those days. The package also included a charging dock. MKBHD found the AT&T variant of the phone, which also had a larger SIM card already inserted in its SIM slot.
Users could not even change the wallpaper of iPhone
In the video, MKBHD states that the original iPhone was not sold through the Apple Store and users did not even have the option to change its wallpaper. However, it had a headphone jack, which Apple removed from the iPhone 7 series and later models. The device was priced at $499 or around Rs 41,000 in 2007. YouTube tried to setup it but it was not easy as it requires iTunes to be setup first, the software which Apple has discontinued in the year 2019.
