It is reported that WhatsApp is now ready to bring another long-awaited feature to its users. The WhatsApp feature that allows users to use a WhatsApp account with one number on another smartphone at the same time is getting ready to reach the users. This feature is already available to some beta testers. This feature makes it possible to use WhatsApp on another phone apart from the current smartphone.
This feature is already available on WhatsApp’s main rival, Telegram. Metta decided to introduce this facility which was much desired by WhatsApp users and finally on WhatsApp as well. For a long time, Meta has also started moving for this. As a part of that, WhatsApp has developed and given beta testers a feature that can be used on tablets at the same time as the WhatsApp account used on a smartphone.
The next step is to use WhatsApp on two phones at the same time. Some lucky users of the latest WhatsApp (Beta) version v2.22.24.18 have access to this new feature known as Companion Mode. WaBeta Info reports that this companion mode is currently only available to a select few beta users, but will be rolling out to everyone soon.
There is already an option called ‘Linked Device’ to use the WhatsApp account logged in on the phone on computers and laptops. By opening WhatsApp web on our computer and scanning the QR code found on it, WhatsApp on the phone was also used on the computer. Companion mode will work in almost the same way.
If you’ve got this feature, which is currently only available to some, you’ll see an option called Link with your phone. Watch for this option when the feature becomes available, even though it’s not available now. Clicking on this option will display a QR code similar to WhatsApp web login which you just need to scan. Just check the link devices option to see if you have this feature available. That’s where you see the link with your phone option above.
Once your WhatsApp account starts working on two phones in companion mode, messages and chats will be available on both phones. But there are indications that facilities like live location, stickers and broadcast may not be available on both phones at the same time. More than two cellphones and up to four devices can be connected simultaneously to the same WhatsApp account.
Going by the current trend, the new feature could be rolling out to everyone within a few days. Recently, WhatsApp has released many features. Community feature that coordinates the activities of various WhatsApp groups, increasing the maximum number of members that can be included in a group to 1024, the facility to make video calls to up to 32 people simultaneously, the call link feature, etc. have all been brought to WhatsApp users at once.
