The feature works on these devices

WhatsApp desktop calling feature is available only for WhatsApp app for web. These apps are available for high-end devices running MacOS X 10.10 and above, devices running Windows 10 and above, and Windows 10 and above. To make free WhatsApp voice and video calls, install the WhatsApp app from your Microsoft Store or Mac App Store.

Apart from this, in order to make or receive calls on WhatsApp Desktop, you will need to connect an audio output device and microphone to your PC. Also, WhatsApp needs to be allowed to access your computer’s microphone and camera. WhatsApp Web does not support group calls. Hence, users can only make personal voice or video calls.

How to do video or voice calling on WhatsApp web

First open the personal chat with whom you want to make a call.

Then click on the video call or voice icon.

You can also mute or unmute your microphone during a call by clicking the microphone icon or turn your camera on or off by clicking the camera icon .

How to switch between voice and video call

You can request your contact to switch to a video call during a voice call. For this you can follow these steps.

First, hover your mouse over the camera icon during a call.

Now click on the camera icon.

If the contact you’re talking to accepts your switch request, your voice call will be converted to a video call.
