Car headlights are like eyes. Especially at night it is not possible to drive without them. In such a situation, if their light decreases or stops, then there is a big problem. A common problem with car headlights is either moisture getting in or water getting in them. This happens mostly in older vehicles. The reason for this is that the rubber seal of the headlights of the car wears out over time and water enters it. At the same time, during the rainy or cold weather, moisture also starts appearing in it.
Due to the presence of moisture or water, the light of the headlights becomes weak. Along with this, there is also a danger of their getting shorted. This happens not only with the headlights but also with the taillights. Now let us tell you an easy way to get rid of this problem which you can easily do at your home too.
How to clean
To clean the headlights you have to open them. For this, as soon as you open the bonnet, you will see two nuts above and one below. After unscrewing these three nuts, gently bend the bulb and take it out and separate it from the headlight assembly. After this, if there is water in the headlight assembly, take it out and wipe it with a lint free cloth. Along with this, apply the silica gel pack inside the headlight upwards in such a way that the light of the bulb does not stop.
You will easily find silica gel pack at chemist or general store. It will completely absorb the moisture present in the light. Along with this, if you want, you will also get sealant in the market. With the help of this you will be able to pack the edges of the headlight. Applying sealant all around the headlight packing will seal it once again. You can also use a hair dryer to dry the headlight. But make sure that the headlight is completely dry. After this mount it again comfortably and fit the bulb.
Do the same process with the tail light as well. But if any part of the light is broken from where water is entering, then get it replaced immediately. Along with the problem of water getting into the headlights, the wiring could also get shorted which could damage the ECM of the car. Due to which this expenditure can also be very big.
