When we have to make a new PC, then the most difficult thing in it is to select PC Processor. If you search on internet you will find many processors. Out of which it is not easy to select one such processor which is best for you.

But in this post, I will tell you very well about all the processors available in the market. With the help of which you will be able to buy Processor according to your requirement.

As you would know that only 2 companies Intel and AMD make processors for Desktop i.e. PC. We will know about the processors of both these companies in this post.

How to select PC Processor

You would know that every year new generation of processor keeps coming. That’s why we should know how to check the generation of the processor.

I am telling a method with the help of which you can know the generation of any processor.

How to know Processor Generations

Intel Generations – You must have seen its model number written on the Intel Processor, in which its Generation is also there. Like Intel i3 1115, the number that comes after i3 like it has 11, then it is the 11th Generation processor. Similarly, i5 9100 has 9 after i5, so it is a 9th generation processor.

AMD Generations – In this also you have to see the first number. Like Ryzen 5 1600, number 1 comes after Ryzen 5, so it is the First Generation Processor. Similarly Ryzen 5 2600 is 2nd gen and Ryzen 5 3600 is 3rd Generation Processor.

What should be checked in processors.

There are many processors in these three categories, you have to select the processor for yourself by looking at Cores, Clock Speed, Cache Memory etc.

Now you can easily select the processor according to your need. If you also face problem in selecting Motherboard, then you can read the post How to Select Motherboard.

Clock Speed – While taking the processor, you should take a processor with good clock speed. The higher your clock speed, the faster the processor will be. But if the generation of the processor is old and the clock speed is high, then your processor will not be that fast. That’s why check Generation along with Clock Speed.

Cache Memory – The data that you work in Cache memory becomes a temporary store. When there is a process in your computer, the cache memory is first seen. If there is a temporary data store in it, then it is accessed immediately, due to which your work gets done quickly.

There are 3 types of Cache Memory, L1 Cache, L2 Cache, and L3 Cache, the fastest of which is L1 Cache. It is installed inside the processor and its size is very less but the speed is very fast. Talking about L2 Cache, its speed is less than this and the speed of L3 Cache is the lowest.

How to Select Intel Processor

i3 Processors – This is a Quad Core Processor. In which you get 4 Core and 8 Threads. If you want to do web browsing, movies, light gaming, then this processor will be best for you.

i7 Processors – These processors are mostly used for high end video editing. In this you get 8 Core to 16 Core. If you want to do video editing or gaming in 4k, then you can buy this category of processor.

How to Select AMD Processor

Ryzen 3 – This is the entry level processors coming from AMD, which have 4 Cores and 4 Threads. Due to having 4 core in it, it performs much better than intel i3.

In this you can do Casual 1080p Gaming and Photo editing and light editing.

Ryzen 5 – In this you get 6 Cores and 12 Threads. This is a medium level processor. In this, you will be able to do both video editing and gaming very easily.

Ryzen 7 – If you do very big projects, like 4k Video Editing and Rendering then you can check Ryzen 7 Processors.

There are many processors in these three categories, you have to select the processor for yourself by looking at Cores, Clock Speed, Cache Memory etc.
