If we find aliens… how will we react? Any form of communication? What things should try to know and say? So many questions are ahead of us. A group of researchers is making a clear plan on how to respond to alien contact one day. Researchers at the University of St Andrews in Scotland are behind the effort.
The plans of this research group are to create a global community of scientists and experts with similar interests, to prepare procedures to be followed in case of communication with extraterrestrials, and to make global agreements based on this. The main goal of the research team is to avoid confusion about what to do if one day the presence of aliens is discovered.
We often wonder how the discovery of aliens would affect humans. But the way we communicate with aliens is also important, said the computer scientist and coordinator of the research team, Dr. John Eliot says. We need to share our expert knowledge and scientific evidence with each other. He adds that we need to be clear about what we know and what we don’t know.
So far, humans have not received evidence of alien life. We cannot completely rule out that possibility. In June, NASA decides to study the unknown celestial phenomena. These phenomena are commonly referred to as UFOs and flying saucers. NASA’s decision comes from the recognition that more studies are needed to scientifically explain much of the evidence we have.
This is not to say that messages from aliens will never reach us. When such a thing happens, the human response must be collective and united. Scientifically, socially and politically, there should be no unprepared responses. John Eliot explains the research team’s policy.
